Many months ago during the winter, I was approached by an old friend from elementary school by the name of Letitia Pfinder. Letitia and I attended General Brock Public School in Scarborough for Grade 7, before I moved to Etobicoke where I spent the past 6 years. Letitia informed me that she is a writer for the Love and Relationships section of the online magazine geared towards real women and real beauty, entitle Reasons to be Beautiful. She asked me if I can get a photoshoot done for their next upcoming issue for the Summer of 2011. I accepted enthusiastically and was quite ecstatic to put a team together to get the shoot done to be featured in the magazine's publication. Only one issue remained, what is my theme? After browsing several magazine websites and trying to get inspiration, my mind remained blank. Suddenly one day, I was at the Dollar Store buying some fake flowers for an engagement session I was shooting. Suddenly, it dawned on me as soon as I saw a big pink daisy flower. I immediately arranged a bouquet ensemble, bought some fake feathers, crazy glue, craft paper and more crafty stuff and started to work on flowery hairpiece that became the core inspiration for my shoot. I had the whole thing mapped out in my mind, the look, the hair, the makeup, the model....everything, except ...I didn't have my model ready...or my team of hair stylist and makeup artist !! Uh oh ! After browsing for hours on Model Mayhem, I finally came across the perfect face amid the many beautiful Torontonian models, a woman by the name of Yulia. I contacted Yulia immediately and she jumped on bored, soon after I contacted one of my favourite makeup artists that I always have the pleasure of working with, Jade Truscott and finally a hairstylist I have never worked with before, the lovely and talented Noush Marcarian. We met at Queen's park in late May and got the shoot done. The summer publication soon came after in August where my photograph was featured on the cover page as well as several other pages alongside an interview with yours truly.
